🌍 FROM CICERO, ILLINOIS... TO CICERO, SPAIN 🤝

Posted Date: 05/06/26 (03:05 PM)

In a project that brought two communities together across thousands of miles, Wilson Elementary’s 5th grade students recently connected with the 5th grade students of CEIP Flavio San Román in Cicero, Spain — a town that shares the very same name as our own.

What began as a classroom activity quickly became something much bigger.

Over the past several weeks, students exchanged emails, shared videos, and introduced one another to their schools, cultures, traditions, and everyday lives. Through these conversations, they discovered not only the similarities between their communities, but also the power of human connection beyond borders.

For many students, this was more than a lesson in geography or language. It was an opportunity to build real friendships with peers on the other side of the world — proving that curiosity, communication, and kindness can unite people no matter the distance.

The collaboration offered students a firsthand glimpse into global learning, encouraging them to think bigger, ask questions, and embrace cultures outside their own. It is a reminder that education is not confined to four classroom walls; it has the power to connect continents.

From Cicero to Cicero, this unforgettable partnership transformed a shared name into a shared experience — one our students will remember for years to come.
