Let’s hear it loud for the Unity Junior High School Special Olympics Basketball Team — who traveled to Bloomington-Normal and brought home GOLD at Illinois State University!

This didn’t happen by accident.
This was earned.

Every practice. Every drill. Every moment they chose to keep going, keep pushing, keep believing in each other — it all led to this.

You could see it on the court… the trust, the energy, the way they lifted each other up after every play. That’s what makes this team special.

And it’s not just this team.

Year after year, our Special Olympics athletes show up and compete at the highest level. They don’t just make it downstate — they make noise when they get there. And they keep bringing it home: gold, silver, bronze… and a whole lot of pride.

This program isn’t just successful — it’s something our entire community should be proud of.

These athletes represent everything right about sports.
