EDUCATION, PREPARATION AND CONNECTION: ANNUAL PARENT UNIVERSITY AND ABILITY AWARENESS FAIR INSPIRES FAMILIES WITH INFORMATIVE WORKSHOPS, MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS πŸ““πŸ§‘β€πŸ§‘β€πŸ§’β€πŸ§’

Posted Date: 03/18/26 (03:00 PM)

Last Friday, families from across Cicero District 99 met with neighbors and made new friends as they attended the District's Parent University and Ability Awareness Fair β€” one of the District's largest annual programs intended to offer families one-of-a-kind informational workshops, an opportunity to learn about District and community supports, and tune in to popular local speakers who aim to motivate and encourage adults to become their best selves.Β

Held at Unity Junior High School, attendees had access to 12 free workshops led by powerful, relatable speakers who understand the real challenges families face today β€” from parenting in the digital age and cyberbullying, to special education, transitions, mental health, home buying and more.

In addition, dozens of area nonprofits and community organizations were on hand, providing resources and conversations about how to best support families, from healthcare and social services to literacy and advocacy.Β

Each year, Parent University isn't just an evening where guests walk in and sit quietly β€” they connect, ask questions, discover resources and leave with real tools that can Β immediately be implemented at home.

When families are strong, communities thrive.Β

Special thanks to the District's Board of Education, administrators and staff, Special Education Department, parent leaders and Town representatives who help make this event the success it is year in and year out!
